Blacklist

Oh my god; have you guys been watching The Blacklist? What is it about James Spader that makes him so deliciously creepy?

A friend of mine tried to tell me that Blacklist was like Arrow, as they both had lists of bad guys to take down. Uh, that’s like saying that Melrose Place is the same as Good Times because they’re both set in an apartment block. Or that Sleepy Hollow is the same as Supernatural because it has siblings fighting the supernatural. Sure, there’s an aspect that’s similar, but it terms of execution that is pretty much it. You can’t compare Arrow to Blacklist. For starters – in terms of shirtlessness I don’t think the Blacklist has had any such scenes. Well, maybe once?* It’s not like Arrow who likes to distract you from plot holes and obvious ignoring of the laws of physics by throwing a shirtless man at you as the greatest distraction in the universe. Hey, I am not afraid to admit there was one time I was watching with a friend the pilot episode, and Olly had just jumped out of a moving vehicle and in the next scene he was walking to his abandoned warehouse with 2 large and cumbersome looking bags. Kate turned to me and said “Where did the bags come from? He didn’t have them in the car with him?” and while I was agreeing with her he took off his shirt, and we forgot what we were talking about. Oh Arrow, I came for the good looking cast, and I stay for the shirtless men. You know me so well.

Cutting for spoilers. There be a lot of spoilers. )

A (usual) short and quick post today; I'm off to the next town over to stay the night with friends and watch the last 3 episodes of Supernatural's Season 6. I do not know what we're going to do once we've watched them. Me camping at their place once a month for Supernatural sessions is the glue that helps keep us in regular contact. We may need to decide on another show to get us through the hiatus.

Been up since 4am so I could do a few hours at work (I get paid for a full day which is brilliant so I didn't mind. In fact, I offered so no one else would need to get up early. In other words, I get brownie points for taking the early winter morning hit, plus, I get extra money. It was a win-win situation that I could not pass up.

Bingo last night was great. It deserves it's own post, so I shall tell you all about it tomorrow.

So I spent today - the day I had planned to clean the house and empty all my closets and organise them - watching the entire first season of Eureka on DVD.

I loved the show. Loved the characters (all of them, which is odd for me), loved the stories, loved everything. Was confused by the Australian guy, as his accent sounded South African to me, but that could just be me.

So, since it was fun and clever and I liked it, I have to ask as I'm too scared to check myself. Has it been cancelled?? I've discovered if I like a show that's fun and clever and I like all the characters the show gets canned quicker than dolphin-friendly tuna. Please tell me it's alive and kicking and gets more awesome.

I meant to do this before, but I forgot until I was watching the original - Australian - version tonight.

Please people of the world, Kath & Kim is hilarious. The original series, that is. Because, for starters, Kim is played by a woman who is in her 40's, and having her wear the three sizes too small Britney Spears couldn't pull off the outfit in her Prime is pure gold. And the jokes are very Australian 'ocker', when told with the correct accent.

The US version...it just doesn't have the right feel about it. It would also help if they had kept the character Sharon. Sharon is AWESOME.

I just wish tv execs wouldn't try and re-invent the wheel all the frickin' time.

That is all. But again, sorry about the show.
